We have an important update for anyone using our OpenAI Assistants integration.
What's happening
OpenAI is retiring the Assistants API on August 26. That's the technology powering your OpenWidget AI assistant, and OpenAI is replacing it with a new system that OpenWidget will not support.
Because of this, we'll be turning the integration off on our end on August 25, one day ahead of OpenAI's shutdown.
What this means for you
There's nothing you need to configure or set up — this change happens automatically on our side. Every other part of OpenWidget keeps working exactly as usual.
The one thing to know: once the integration is switched off, your assistant's chat history will no longer be accessible through OpenWidget. If you'd like to keep a copy, export it from your OpenAI account before August 26.
Looking for an AI assistant to replace it?
If you still want an AI assistant on your site, check out Text AI Agent, built by our own team. It trains directly on your website content, so there are no API keys to manage and no separate OpenAI bill to worry about.

We know change isn't always convenient, but this one's on OpenAI's end, not ours — and we wanted to make sure you had plenty of notice. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our support team.
